Alison Marsh - Reflections Counselling
Life can be stressful. Pressure from family, work, relationships, illness, can leave you lost, upset, confused, distressed and feeling like there is nowhere to turn. That is where I fit in. I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk openly about any problems, issues, or feelings you are encountering which may be preventing you reaching your goals or getting what you want out of life.
Regardless of your situation, be it overwhelming circumstances, long term problems, or a general discontent with life, I can work with you to help discover a way forward.
I have vast experience in working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bereavement, living with long term conditions and Cancer related trauma.
I offer both short term and long term therapy for both adults or teenagers.
I aim to provide an extremely high quality professional service and care and am a accredited member of the Counselling Society, and an accredited registered member of the BACP, obtaining their certificate of proficiency, and adhere to their ethical framework. I am also registered member of the National Counselling Society. These memberships require very high standards in terms of training, professional skills and behaviour.
Although I work from a person-centred background, my integrative approach combines techniques tailor made to each individual client, providing support while we work through issues and problems.
In addition to my counselling diploma I have a wide range of further training including cognitive-behavioural therapy, transactional analysis relationship therapy, bereavement support, as well as qualifications for working with stress management, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, work based problems, long term health problems and family issues.
Training, qualifications & experience
My experience involves working with the NHS Cardiac Unit, Lymphoedema patients and Breast Cancer patients, and the difficulties coming to terms with long term illness.
I have also worked with teenage children with a range of problems, including anger management, self-harm, anxiety, exam stress, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, eating disorders and loss.
I work within a general private practice which continues to expand, I also help within a general charity funded counselling clinic encompassing clients with a range of issues such as difficulties around confidence or self-esteem, relationships, depression, anxiety, loss, bereavement or illness.
I also currently work with Herne Bay Counselling Training to teach new counsellors on their first level of counselling training.

My holistic approach to counselling is a mixture of experience, blended with theory to design tailor made counselling for the individual.
The sessions are guided by you, and we focus on our therapeutic relationship, moving at a pace lead by you, to discover coping strategies to help with the issues and problems you are facing.
I encourage clients to discuss feelings and emotions, by providing a empathetic, non judgemental and honest environment.
You have taken the first step to enquire about beginning counselling, which is often the hardest part.
