Hello and welcome
You may be reading this if you're struggling with difficult feelings or experiences. At a time when you might be feeling lost and nothing seems clear, counselling offers you a safe space and time to feel really listened to, understood and accepted.
But how do you find the right counsellor from a sea of profiles that may all sound very similar? In this profile I aim to show you who I am as a person and as a counsellor so you can see if I might be the right counsellor for you.
I'm now in my 40s so I bring knowledge and experience from rich life experiences and past careers in the media, charity sector and in the NHS. I draw from these as a therapist but I use my professional training and experience to ensure that your therapy is focussed entirely on you.
No two people are the same so I provide therapy that is tailored to you as an individual and which is built around a supportive and non-judgmental relationship. Clients describe me as a warm and empathic counsellor who is helpful both for people seeking counselling for the first time and those who have had counselling in the past.
I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, a registered member of the BACP and accredited by the UKCP. I offer solution-focused brief therapy, short-term counselling or longer-term depth therapy, according on your needs and wishes.
I've worked with clients to overcome a range of issues including anxiety/generalised anxiety disorder, relationship issues, family issues, panic disorder, depression (feeling sad), grief/bereavement/loss, self esteem and anger management issues. I also have particular experience and expertise in working with survivors of sexual violence (including rape) and childhood sexual abuse.
I'm an integrative therapist, which means that I combine tools from a number of therapies including Transactional Analysis, CBT, Gestalt, person-centred counselling, creative therapies, neuroscience and psychotherapy. This approach allows me to tailor your therapy to you as an individual to help you gain a deeper understanding of the issues you are facing so you can find your way forward.
Counselling works best when the relationship between counsellor and client is strong, so it's important to find the right therapist for you. The best way to learn more about me and my approach is to visit my website (link above).
If you’d like to talk to me before you book a session or if you’d like to discuss your issues and how I might be able to help, I offer an initial phone conversation of up to 15 minutes at no charge. If I'm unavailable when you call please do leave a message or send a text so I know it’s OK for me to call you back.
I look forward to working with you.
With warm wishes
