About me
I work with young people and adults and I offer a non-judgemental and friendly space in which to get to know you. If you experience stress, anxiety or depression or finding life difficult, through collaboration we can explore what has led to this point in your life. We can identify what you would like to achieve during our time together, what is important to you and what you would like to be different by the time counselling has ended? I offer creative approaches for those that may find it hard to express themselves and using an integrative approach can tailor therapy to suit your needs.
As a pluralistic counsellor I want to understand your world, your preferences in and outside the counselling room. This helps to adapt sessions to suit your needs and integrate therapies that will help you to move forward and have a more positive approach in life. Some clients benefit from integrating guided imagery, relaxation and grounding techniques into their sessions.
Tailoring the therapy room to suit your needs is key in helping you to feel safe and secure in sessions. This ensures you gain the most out of your sessions and our work together. If would like to know more about working together then please contact me. The counselling room is on the ground floor and has one low step to access the building.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a First class Degree in Counselling and Therapeutic Practice. I have considerable experience working with children and young people in a mental health and well-being capacity. I also work in schools as a counsellor and in a local charity for young people through to adults.
I have experience of incorporating creative techniques into therapy to aid in exploration of your reasons for coming to counselling. This can include sand tray, use of stories, drawings and poetry.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
