About me

Together we will work towards understanding the difficulties causing your distress, how and where these have originated from, and why they continue to affect you. We will work collaboratively by drawing on several evidence-based approaches, including: cognitive-behaviour therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassionate mind approaches, as well as considering how people relate to each other (psychodynamic) and within friendships, relationships and families.

From my career in NHS, I am experienced in working with people at all stages of life, including young people and adults. I’m particularly interested in helping people to live meaningful lives whilst living with chronic illnesses, including ‘medically unexplained symptoms’. Having also worked in business and large organisations, I support people experiencing stress and sleep problems connected to their working lives. I have taught across a number of Universities, including as a Senior Lecturer teaching trainee psychologists.

Types of problems I can help:

I can work with you to help overcome a number of difficulties including feeling low, feeling 'stuck', anxious and hopeless. I regularly work with people who  are struggling with OCD, phobia, past traumas, low self-esteem and difficulty adjusting following stressful life events. People may have a range of needs including ADHD, autism or chronic physical illness.

What to expect:

Each session lasts 50 minutes and the number of sessions can vary, depending on your needs. I work to put you at ease and build a trusting therapeutic relationship. I will help you to understand how these difficulties have arisen and what is keeping them going. We will look at ways to help you manage and break distress and build your strengths and coping strategies.

I offer sessions at The Tower Clinic in Leeds (8 Tinshill Lane, Leeds LS16 7AP). The site is wheel-chair accessible and has parking onsite.

I also offer sessions by online video via Zoom (similar to Skype).
