About me

I am an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist and a multidisciplinary artist. I work with pre-teens, teenagers, and adults who, for whatever reason—diagnosed or not—are struggling to make it through the day.

The work we undertake begins with a six-week assessment period, followed by twelve-week reviews. The assessment is a valuable opportunity for us to see if we are a good fit and whether art therapy is right for you. If we find that your needs might be better served by another clinician or modality, I will be happy to refer you to a specialist.

This initial stage is also a time to build and maintain trust between us. Trust and safety are crucial as we embark on a journey of bringing awareness to the 'here and now' moments that arise between us. Sometimes these moments may be difficult to confront, and I will ensure that we proceed at a safe and manageable pace. I will also invite you to become more aware of your body—the movements, shapes, and gestures—and explore what they might be communicating. We will use both the body and art materials to support somatic health through the innate, regulating power of art-making.

I believe that each of us is made up of different selves or sub-selves—representations of various feelings rooted in significant events from our past. These parts are like a family within us. Like any family, they sometimes bicker; often one part speaks for the rest, while others may feel unheard or silenced. Our work together involves helping these parts coexist harmoniously and bringing those hidden in the shadows into the light.

Art therapy has the potential to access these sub-selves that may be hidden from the conscious mind. By allowing the body and art materials to create—and by dialoguing with the artwork—we may uncover experiences and feelings that words alone can struggle to express.

I have experience working in an inner-city secondary school for students with special needs and disabilities, as well as in NHS alcohol and substance misuse services. Alongside my private practice, I currently work with two charities: one is a counselling service for Muslims and their families who have been harmed by policing, prisons, or criminalisation; the other supports young asylum seekers and refugees.

I run my private practice from The London Art Therapy Centre in King Cross, central London on Mondays, and from Pelican House in Bethnal Green, East London on Tuesdays.
