About me

I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy for adults in a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore moving towards change in your life.

Working in a relational way means I attend to your story, history and therapeutic goals with care and compassion.  It also means that I help you to create a shift in the relationship that you have within yourself.

My overall approach is guided by the Internal Family Systems model (IFS) with my underpinning core training being in Integrative therapy.

Sessions guide you to explore an understanding of your difficulties, uncover patterns in your history and create change by working compassionately with your inner system to attend to anxiety, loss, depression and many other challenges.

The direction of the therapy is client driven and can often explore deeper, longer term issues and relationships that you may have with others and with yourself.

Whether you are impacted by relationships within your life, a more personal or historical difficulty or the current global situation, my training and experience can allow a space for you to look at what may otherwise be difficult to explore on your own.

I have worked alongside many individual adults, at their different life stages. My counselling work has included a wide variety of issues within both short and longer term therapy in the voluntary sector, in the work place through employee assistance programs and in private practice.

I offer sessions in person in my private therapy room in the centre of Barnstaple and also remotely via Zoom and by phone. I hold a limited number of lower fee spaces available to low income groups.  I welcome any initial enquiries via email, text or phone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
