Currently I am involved with charity and community based organisations.

In recent years I have been involved with the Tall Ships as a member of the leadership team, acting as the mentor, as well as being a sailing instructor, for the troubled or disadvantaged crews.
Commercially and before my counselling career I worked with professionals at all levels from the commercial and the entertainment world.
This wide back ground together with a sound education in counselling has well equipped me to understand my clients’ anxieties and, to be able to help them
Do let me help you!
GETTING STARTED:
Taking the first step for counselling can often be daunting and no doubt you will want to meet me as your counsellor before deciding to go ahead.
If you would like to contact me by email, then click on the email box and tell me briefly what concerns you.
I will reply within 48 hours with an offer of times for our first introductory meeting.
You will confirm a time and so we are now ready to meet and to consider the start of our relationship /your therapy.
Alternatively you can phone me for a chat prior to arranging your first introductory visit.
AT OUR FIRST MEETING
This is the start of getting to know each other, and building our therapeutic relationship. At this our first meeting we will briefly look at the presenting problems that are concerning you. We will discuss your expectations and any anxieties or concerns that you may have and I will tell you something of the different styles of therapy and consider which one may be the most appropriate for you to start with. You of course will be free to ask any questions that you may have.
If we are comfortable and feel that we can work with each other we will then discuss how we are going to proceed.
HOW I WORK
I am an experienced counsellor and I use in the main, the Humanistic Model of Counselling with an integrative approach. In non-professional speak this means that I use the Humanistic modern development of counselling as the foundation for our therapy. Here you are respected as an individual and your thoughts are listened to with total respect. I will not give you specific advice but will encourage you to talk about your issues in a relaxed environment, so that you start to see things differently and so move towards finding your own management styles and solutions.
Additionally I am always ready to use, ‘or integrate’, tools from other styles of counselling if thought appropriate, as often they are!
Gestalt for example means looking at past distressing issues in the ‘here and now’ and so enables us to manage those issues. It can be a useful and enlightening tool!
Initially I plan for six sessions, and much can be achieved during this time, however many clients feel the need for further sessions and the programme is constantly tailored to suit your needs.
CLIENTS HELPED
Bristol is a University town and I regularly counsel undergraduates and staff for a mixture of problems including: relationships, insecurity, lack of self esteem, anger management, drugs and alcohol, bullying, personal development, and more!
Additionally my clientele comprise professional executives from varying backgrounds. They too have many of the problems listed above
I feel that no matter what your background and history, I am a well experienced and perceptive counsellor and, I know that I will be able to offer you help with issues that you may have.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
