Alex Hegazy, Psychological Therapist, BABCP Accredited
23 Clerkenwell Close
I am trained to deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I am also a postgraduate psychologist having completed British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited qualifications.
I provide a supportive environment with which to address the distress you are experiencing and current difficulties that are holding you back. This means identifying thoughts, feelings and behaviours, then looking for the points where changes can be made.
I combine this with a practical problem solving approach to look at ways to reach the goals you are aiming for. After a set of treatment sessions I hope that you will have acquired a more balanced perspective of your situation that will enable you to better manage the ups and downs of life.
How CBT can help
CBT is particularly useful for managing a range of anxiety and stress related issues. This is based on my own experience from working with clients. It is also evidenced by research studies that show CBT is effective in dealing with these issues.
The kind of issues identified as being treatable with CBT include work related stress, panic disorder, panic attacks, specific phobias such as fear of spiders or vomiting, generalised anxiety disorder, health related worry, social anxiety, traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) that includes intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviours that bring with them an underlying sense of uncertainty and danger.
Some people also find strategies learnt in sessions useful for managing low mood and depression, dealing with different levels of sadness, coping with difficult feelings that may be a result of low self esteem and/or having high standards.
What to expect in your first session
If you would like to find out more about my practice please email or text and we can arrange a free 20 minute telephone consultation. Towards the end of the call we can decide on whether arranging an initial face to face session will be useful. During this first face to face session we will aim to talk about the problems you are dealing with in more depth and agree on a weekly treatment plan to move forward with.
I am based in the East Central London area Clerkenwell. It is easily accessible via Farringdon, Barbican, Angel and Kings Cross stations.
