About me

Hi, my name is Aleksandra. I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in assessment and therapy with children, teenagers, and their families. I have many years of experience working across different health and social care settings such as child development service, looked after children service, psychiatric inpatient unit. For over the past 10 years, I have worked in a busy, inner London child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and have held a managerial role for over the past 5 years contributing to the development of innovative services for young people.

My area of interest and specialism is working with teenagers and young adults aged 13 to 25 years as well as with their parents. I have had the privilege to work with teens from different social and cultural backgrounds and I have supported them with various difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationships, loss as well as life transitions.

Training, qualifications & experience

Whilst I draw upon a range of evidence based psychological approaches to meet the young person’s needs and achieve their personal goals, I have particular interest and training in providing Time-Limited Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (TAPP). I am accredited as a TAPP practitioner by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I am also trained in Mentalisation Based Therapy for Adolescents (MBT-A). When working with parents of children and teens, I draw upon a number of evidence-based parenting interventions (i.e. Solihull Approach, Incredible Years, Triple P) and I have had the privilege to work with parents of adolescents both individually and in a group setting.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have particular interest and training in providing Time-Limited Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (TAPP) that offers 21 sessions in total with the focus on exploring what may be underlying symptoms of anxiety or low mood and takes into account developmental perspective i.e. important and often challenging life transitions in young people's life. TAPP offers a space to think about difficulties and has a relational focus i.e. encourages you to think about how we function in relationships and what makes us stuck and gets in a way of closeness and feeling confident with others.

Further information

Coming from a different culture myself and being bilingual has given me the unique experience of bridging diverse perspectives in therapy. Although I am mindful of potential challenges of navigating cultural misunderstandings, I am also aware of the potential it offers to connect deeply with people from various backgrounds and communicate in more nuanced ways.

As a clinical psychologist I have also completed play based therapy training that has instilled in me a playful mindset that I bring even to my work with older children, helping to break barriers, build trust and encourage openness.
