Aleksandra Litovski, CPsychol, Chartered Counselling Psychologist
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist available for face to face appointments in Islington. Should you wish to book online with myself or any of my colleagues then please go to http://booking.thebritishcbtcounsellingservice.com/ for a Live Online Diary.
I work with adults, children, families and couples and use a range
of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) (including Third Wave approaches; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Compassionate Focused Therapy), Psychodynamic Therapy and Schema Therapy. I create an individualised treatment programme for each of my patients based on what they need and feel comfortable and taking into consideration what is proven to bring the fastest and most long lasting relief for their particular difficulty.
I am experienced in helping people to resolve the majority of problems that cause emotional distress and discomfort including (but not limited to):
- Alcohol Problems
- Anger Issues
- Counselling for Carers
- Child & Teenager Counselling
- Depression & Low Mood
- Eating Disorders

Talking to a psychologist is a step in self-care, at a time when we feel vulnerable and unhappy. Therapy can help us cope with life’s demands, personal sensitivities and past events. It encourages resilience through emotional expression and acquisition of new skills, while collaboratively making sense of problems with a therapist.
I offer a number of short-term, medium-term and long-term therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT, ACT, CFT, MBCT) and Psychotherapy (psychodynamic psychotherapy, mentalization based therapy MBT, interpersonal psychotherapy IPT).
Some of the problems that I treat include depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, work related stress, relationship and family difficulties, pregnancy and fertility problems, physical health problems, bereavement.
I am motivated by witnessing people’s capacity to recover from difficulties through engaging with therapy, as they start to experience fewer unwanted symptoms, begin to enjoy improved relationships, feel less vulnerable and more resilient.
A Little More About Me
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist working in private practice alongside a part-time primary care NHS post. In my NHS role, as a senior therapist, I offer assessments and treatment to people with complex presentations, I supervise and manage junior staff members and psychology trainees, and I am a research lead for the service. I bring these skills and experience to my private work.

It may be possible to use your private health insurance to cover the cost or part of the cost of your appointments. Each healthcare provider (Bupa, Axa, Aviva, Cigna etc) have slightly different policies but most of them are happy for you to approach us directly in the first instance.
Axa require a referral from a Psychiatrist in order to access your policy and we are happy to help arrange this with you.
Bupa require a referral from your GP in order to access your policy. GP’s are often happy to provide a referral following a phone consultation instead of a traditional face to face appointment in the surgery as it is more time efficient.
With the above a quick call to your healthcare provider should allow them clarify these details.
It is worth noting that not all policies will cover the full cost of your treatment. We will advise you of the availability of healthcare appointments, and any cost implications in your initial enquiry.
Some healthcare providers have fees which are different to our self funding rates detailed above. If these are less than our own rate we have to ask that the shortfall is made up by the patient. Please just remember to tell us who your provider is as soon as possible to avoid any confusion when booking.

“Feelings of anxiety will always be part of a busy lifestyle, but in my experience, having a strong CBT counsellor to help get those harsher aspects is essential. This is what I have achieved with 20 sessions and will continue to build on.”
