Alastair Smedley - Clinical Gestalt Psychotherapist UKCP Accredited. GPTI Member
Hi, I'm Alastair and I am a Clinical Gestalt Psychotherapist with 11 years experience of working in both private practice and with an EAP organisation and provider of NHS Primary care.
I have worked with a broad and diverse range of issues ranging from mild to severe anxiety and depression requiring short and long term interventions, through to in-depth Psychotherapy for those with trauma and related histories and developmental difficulties.
I work within Gestalt principles and philosophical ideas, this means working in the here and now and moment to moment with the client, providing a horizontal relationship in which the client can explore, confront and experiment in a safe holding environment.
I offer a relational approach that is genuine, seeking to meet the needs of the client and creatively facilitate self-awareness, growth, and the choice for change.
I have worked with many areas of client issues including Trauma, Bereavement, Grief and loss, attachment, bullying, sexual identity, relationships, sexual abuse, psychological and physical abuse, anxiety, and depression.
My private practice takes place in a purpose-built space on the grounds of my home in Beverley offering privacy and confidentiality. I also have off-street parking.
I also offer online (Zoom, Skype, FaceTime) and telephone counselling which I have found to be very successful.
I work with individuals and couples in addition I offer supervision working with individual groups and organisations.
