Hello, welcome to my page. If you are looking for help it is important to acknowledge that it takes huge courage to come to Counselling for whatever brings you there and I hope that whoever you work with, that you give yourself credit for this.
I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Therapist - some of the issues I help clients find resolution with are anxiety, trauma, addiction and relationship problems, amongst other things.
My work as a therapist follows the Psychodynamic approach. Through providing a trusting and honest relationship I can bring insight of the unconscious (what's not in your awareness) into consciousness to help provide the tools to develop a better understanding of how the past impacts the present as well as resolving issues with interpersonal relationships, defences, and emotions.
If you are interested in reading more about the therapeutic approach I use, please read this link.
My initial training has been enhanced by professional level study of Online and Telephone Counselling, Counselling Children and Young People and Emotion Focused Therapy approaches.
The values I strive towards are warmth, inclusivity, honesty, understanding and congruence. I practice this in my commitment to continued personal and professional development, particularly with regards to cultural understanding and anti-racism. The ways that I do this are collaborating with people from marginalised communities and diverse heritages, reading and learning as well as from continued training.
I work online and by telephone as I was fortunate enough to develop my practice and undergo additional training when Covid-19 began and found this to be really accessible way of reaching clients. I have also found that sometimes people find it easier to talk about some topics when they are not physically in the room with you.
I am fully insured and a PVG scheme member in respect of regulated work with both adults and children.

College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSCA)
COSCA is the professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland, and seeks to advance all forms of counselling and psychotherapy and the use of counselling skills by promoting best practice and through the delivery of a range of sustainable services. COSCA Counsellor Accreditation is a pathway to entry onto the UKRC.
It is a requirement of all individual and organisational members of COSCA to abide by its Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice and be accountable to the Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£45.00 per session
Free initial online session
I offer a free 30 minute consultation (on Zoom) for us to meet informally, you to ask any questions and hopefully get a sense if we might be a good match together. My sessions cost £45 and last 50 minutes. I usually see clients once a week.
How long we work together is dependent on the issue(s) and your preference as a client but I would look to review how you felt the sessions were going at least every 6 weeks.
