About me

About Me:

Hello and welcome to my page. I am a registered, integrative counsellor, certified play therapist and holistic practitioner, who is deeply committed to supporting the well-being of adults and children who haven’t always had the best early life experiences or childhoods and who long to finally feel whole and well again.

Perhaps you suffer from chronic stress, overwhelm, anxiety or fatigue and you just can't work out the cause? The truth is, most of us have unresolved trauma due to early life stress, painful loss and most recently, pandemic- related challenges. Any exposure to trauma, whether it is physical, emotional or mental, can have long term effects on our health and well-being and it is my calling is to help those who have experienced overwhelm of any kind, to explore, heal and move forwards from their pasts towards a future that feels nurturing and wonderful.

How I work:

I work in an integrative way that is free flowing. I will encourage you to explore and make sense of your own ongoing life experiences. I will always support you to connect with your own inner wisdom and resources as I believe we all have the innate potential to heal ourselves. I have been trained in lots of different therapeutic approaches and I often use aspects of these during my sessions as I firmly believe that not one single approach suits everyone. I'm also able to offer Reiki and  EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

I always try to help my clients feel welcome and safe enough to share their difficulties with me. Choosing to have therapy may be the first step in a journey to self – healing and I always feel privileged to be a part of each of my clients’ journeys.

Why I became a counsellor and play therapist:

I found my way to therapy because of significant life events that left me feeling very traumatised and overwhelmed. For some clients, this may also be the case, or it might be because they have experienced a slow build up of challenging emotions and they are feeling exhausted or debilitated.

It might be that even now, two years later, Covid has left you feeling very anxious and fearful about your future and for others. It may be that you are reaching a point in your life where you feel you have lost your sense of purpose or meaning. Maybe you feel confused or stuck in a rut and a lifestyle you no longer desire. Whatever you choose to bring along to counselling, you will always be welcomed and heard.

Type of sessions available:

I am experienced in providing face to face, telephone counselling and online video therapy.

Free initial consultation:

I offer an initial 40 minute consultation for free in person,  via telephone or video conference.

What to expect in our first session together:

In our initial session, we will have the opportunity to discuss some of the areas you might like to explore. I will ask you what might have brought you to therapy at this time, what you are hoping to gain and whether you have attended counselling or therapy before. This will give us the opportunity to see if I am the most appropriate person to meet your therapeutic needs and to plan a way forward.

I have continued to train as rigorously as I can so I feel able to give others the kind of relief, joy and opportunities that I have experienced in my own healing journey to date. Whether we have a face to face meeting, or we meet via telephone or video, I will offer you a personalised, holistic approach to help you reclaim your own power and to enable you to feel fulfilled and ‘enough’ in your own life.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I have my own practice at my home which I call my Hobbit House. It is built on a piece of land adjacent to my home. It's a private and peaceful space, which clients often tell me is very beautiful and calming. In the warmer months, it's also private enough to have sessions outside on the grassy banks.
