Aideen McCartney, Play Therapist, Reg. PTUK
Whether your child is experiencing a difficult time, or you’re struggling with challenging behaviour, I can help bring playfulness and peace back into the heart of your family. Based in London, I offer play therapy for children and a range of bespoke coaching and support programmes for parents.
Play therapy helps children who are struggling socially, emotionally or behaviourally
As adults, when we have worries or experience a tough time we usually use words to express ourselves and make sense of our situation. For children, it is often much easier to use the language of play.
Play therapy provides a safe and confidential place for children to work through their problems
Within the warm, trusting and accepting play therapy relationship children can feel free to play and express themselves in ways they might not be able to anywhere else.
The play therapy toolkit includes art, clay, music, sand tray, movement, therapeutic storytelling, puppets, drama and role-play.
Who can play therapy help?
Play therapy can help children who are experiencing a range of social or emotional difficulties, such as:
- Anxiety, stress or phobias
- Parental & family separation
- Friendship difficulties, bullying or being bullied
- Low self-confidence
- Mood swings or inappropriate emotional responses
- Communication and behavioural delays or difficulties
- Struggling to access learning or achieve academic potential
- Bereavement, trauma & abuse
- Looked-after and fostered children
- Young carers
I am currently accepting referrals for private play therapy sessions in Kensington and Streatham, London
PLAYFUL PATHWAYS PROGRAMMES
The most important thing to a parent is their relationship with their child
From bespoke, hands-on Super Nanny style parenting coaching, to facilitated family creative play and creative arts sessions, I offer a range of support programmes to parents aimed at improving parent-child relationships and encouraging co-operation, communication and playfulness.
My programs are flexible and designed to meet the needs of each individual family. I can work with families intensively in their home, offering practical hands-on support; I can do weekly coaching sessions with parents or I can deliver one-off creative workshops.
My goal throughout all programmes is to help parents feel more confident and to bring a sense of peace and playfulness into the heart of the family.
My full range of Playful Pathways Programmes are available to families throughout London or remote parent coaching is available via skype for families located elsewhere.
