About me
With over 25 years of qualified work experience, I specialise in sexual assault/abuse, PTSD, depression/anxiety and relationship issues-couples, families or individuals- including LGBTQ+ issues and adolescents. I can help you develop an understanding of yourself and others, and provide you with the support to work on the issues you face, facilitating positive change. It is a way of reducing any confusion and enabling choice; it is not about forcing you to take a particular course of action. During the counselling session, I aim to provide a safe place where you can share your thoughts, feelings and concerns in as much detail as you wish. You will neither be judged nor have ideas or opinions imposed upon you.
Confidentiality, discretion and respect are of paramount importance to me, and my approach is friendly and down-to-earth. I am an Integratively trained Counsellor which means I draw upon relevant theory and techniques to tailor to each individual.
Adolescents, I have worked for 5 years in an educational establishment counselling young people. It is a period of transition, so many young people struggle with how they feel. If you are a young person and feel sad most of the time and this is affecting your work at school, relationships with friends or family, or you feel like you're just not being you. I will not tell you what to do, but will help you to choose and act on your own decisions.
I have an understanding of LGBTQ+ issues where I am able to offer a more specialised counselling service for the LGBT+ community for issues such as coming out, identifying as a different gender, coping with confusing feelings, prejudice and discrimination and feelings of isolation and being alone.
I offer an initial free, up to 30 minute appointment. This is an opportunity to meet me and discuss whether continued counselling would be appropriate to your needs and therefore it is without obligation to continue. This can be via the phone or on Teams.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I abide by the BACP ethical framework for best practice. All work is fully insured. I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor.
Over the years I have helped people to overcome a wide range of difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours and have witnessed positive changes, with clients making life choices that work for them.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
