About me

COVID19.  I am currently taking on new clients working on zoom. Contact me for details and a free ten minute telephone consultation.

Hello and thank you for taking an interest in my profile, just to say a little about me. I am an EMDR and person centred experienced practitioner.

I enjoy working with people, enabling you to find a place of insight and self compassion. I am particularly interested in how our bodies and mind work together and if out of balance, can cause anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, unexplained body ailments, constant worry, dread and self criticism.

The way in which i work is sensitive to your needs. I attune to your body senses as this is the first language we learn. We respond to life firstly, through our sensory system way before we develop language. However, for many of us, we can tune out from this language our ( instinctual self ) as a response to overwhelming or difficult life events. Many of us who have experienced difficult or traumatic life events can respond by activating the fight/ flight/ freeze response which becomes our habitual way of being in the world. This way of being can result in the myriad symptoms many doctors see such as anxiety, depression, obsessive thinking/feeling and behaving. Low self esteem, relationship difficulties and more.

The person centred non directive approach complements EMDR as it is client centred and aims to give you the space and respect to stay out of your way when processing, this allows your body and brain to do its natural healing. Having trained in a variety of approaches I am able to facilitate your process in a way which aims to bring about positive changes.

Together we will explore the root cause to your symptoms and in doing so, you will learn many tools to be able to manage these symptoms thus, bringing you a sense of calm, groundedness and confidence.

Additionally, I will endeavour to work towards understanding you from your point of view, free of any interpretation or analysis and seek to allow your process to unfold.

Person centred therapy is not about techniques or being the expert as such rather, it is about the relationship between counsellor and client.Together we will work in a collaborative way exploring what brings you to therapy.

I continuously update my practice by attending regular training courses and having good supervision.

Please feel free to check out my website for more information and www.emdracademy.co.uk for more information about how ( EMDR ) eye movement desensitization can help.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
