About me

Hello, welcome & thank you for checking out my profile!

A guide to this profile

On this page, there is information about how I could support you, so that you can best decide if I am suitable to your needs from a therapist. You can read the whole thing or browse down to the headers that (hopefully) give you the answers you need. If you are completely lost as to who to approach, then write a short list of some of the things that you want from therapy and the therapist themselves. Then filter through the therapists on the site to meet those requirements.  If there is something you are looking for specifically that I haven't mentioned, then please get in contact to ask, or alternatively visit my website: www.dynamictherapy.club

My role in supporting you

I am a qualified, trained, enhanced DBS cleared registered counsellor. I am further certified in online & telephone based counselling. I am classed as an integrative counsellor which means that I use many different approaches that are adapted to meet your needs in the session. Find out more about these approaches in "Further information" below.

It is my role to support you in making sense & meaning of what you are experiencing now and finding the right path to where you want to be. My approach to counselling is to make sessions as relaxed and conversational as possible to give you a safe, calm and confidential space to explore whatever brings you to therapy. We will identify a way that works for you and the sessions are your own to explore your matter & options within it.

Why choose me as your therapist?

Yes, there are lots and lots of counsellors to choose from on here! I remember many years ago going through the same process and wondering who to choose - so why pick me? I want you to find the right therapist for you. To assist you in making that choice I offer a free consultation over the phone or Zoom for us to talk about your situation, needs & expectations both from therapy and the therapist.

I hold enough knowledge, experience, confidence & self awareness to know if I can support you in your situation. I have had so many great clients during my time in practice, who have made amazing progress & achieved what they set out to through therapy with me.

I am a human with a life lived & a personality. Whilst I maintain professionalism & wont share much about myself, I believe it is more relaxing for both sides of the the therapeutic relationship to realise that we connect as humans when dealing with challenging or tough matters that you may bring to the therapy room. Through my being & my role, I will offer a unique, relatable and effective approach to your issues.

I will be on your side unconditionally. With this, we will work together honestly & transparently from both sides to develop trust with one another. As your therapist I will not be afraid to tactfully challenge unhelpful thinking and behaviours that may not be beneficial and channel you to find new ways to serve you better.

Session insight

Counselling & therapy sessions are there to support you in change and transition through complicated, uncomfortable & challenging points in our life.

Through attending sessions with me, I will give you a safe & private space for you to understand and learn more about your current situation, whilst supporting you to look back on the things that contributed to how you are feeling now.

Each session will be focused on you to give you an opportunity to speak without fear of judgment or other agenda to find the answers you need to the matters that you are facing. You will draw on your experience and life skills to find and develop your own resources to manage your current situation and future.

I am extremely proud and grateful to have been through therapy myself, having realised the distinct benefits of having somewhere to go, away from my every day life to talk to someone who I could trust to help me safely explore my situation and feelings.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

Blue light support

The day to day work within the emergency services is different to any other job - I know because I did it for almost a decade. The stresses, strains and demands placed upon you hold unique challenges to your resilience that can easily start off as "Just part of the job", and over time impact more and more. As a counsellor with lived experience in this environment, I am able to offer support with greater insight and appreciation of what you are facing more than most. Having further studied emergency service work place trauma, I can support you with the workplace challenges that you have faced and continue to come up against.

When the impacts of your duty cannot be left in the locker before you come home, its time to speak.

Some of the psychological approaches I am trained in include:

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Identifying & addressing past and existing thought processes, beliefs and behaviours that may be unhelpful or harmful, then altering these to more positive, supportive constructs.
Person Centered - Humanist counselling - Providing the right optimal conditions to explore your own personal growth, understanding & change in what you are dealing with.
Pyschodynamic - A focus on how past experiences and thoughts in our unconscious influence the present.
Transactional Analysis - Inclusive of the above three methods, we explore the structure of our personality into three ego states of the parent, adult & child. You identify your inner state changes and how you interact with others.
Gestalt Therapy - Looking at you and your patterns of behaviour, you focus on the present & how others & situations interact with you.
Neuro Lingustic Programming - A solution focused approach where you explore the way that your brain in programmed from earlier patterns of behaviour and thought. With this, we identify the resources that you already have available to create new patterns that help you reach your desired states.

As well as counselling I write articles, present podcasts and host videos for self help, motivation, confidence and connection. You can access these through my website: www.dynamictherapy.club/media
