About me

Welcome. My name is Abby Aitken and I am a fully qualified counsellor who has experience of counselling adults with a wide range of issues. I can help you explore your issues in an empathic, safe and supportive environment, bringing a deeper understanding of your situation.

I welcome clients who are experiencing any number of issues including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, family issues, self-harm, PTSD and relationship concerns. I have experience of both open-ended and time-limited therapy and use an integrative approach (I use a range of therapeutic techniques and tools) to support you. The core of my practice is Person Centred based, resulting in a natural, warm and accepting experience for clients.

I am aware that an important part of this process is the relationship between you and I.  For my part, I will commit to being open, honest and supportive and bring anything I can offer, during what can be both a challenging and enlightening process. For you, I hope you find a connection that will help you to explore and develop and help you to move forward in life as you wish to.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and work within the BACP Ethical Framework.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of counselling clients of different backgrounds, cultures and sexualities. I have volunteered in hospitals and in the Bristol community. I currently run a private practice and am constantly updating my knowledge and skills by attending training courses and workshops.  I have monthly supervision which helps me provide a high quality and safe practice.
