About us

Are you struggling to make sense of your life and your relationships? Are you going through a particularly challenging time because of a loss, a serious illness, more stress than you can cope with, and/or your confidence has hit an all time low, or you would like to grow as a person and find a way of achieving your potential in life. Maybe now is the time to talk to someone who will be able to help you make a difference to your life.

The initial session, for which there is a 50% reduction, is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. Sessions take place in a warm, comfortable and peaceful environment, where whatever you want to talk about is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality. At the end of the session we can then agree on subsequent sessions, there being no pressure whatsoever to do anything that you do not feel comfortable with.

Ann Stirrup

I aim to work in as flexible a way as possible, tailoring my approach to your needs and the nature of your issues. To this end I work in an integrative way combining aspects of the main therapeutic approaches.

I have been working as a counsellor since 1998 and my experience covers a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression, stress, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, anger management, cancer support, and general personal development. This experience has been gained in a hospice with cancer patients and their carers, various charities and a busy medical centre, all in Cheshire. Since 2015 I have been in private practice in East Kent. I have worked with both couples and individuals, having specialist training in Couples Counselling. I have a Certificate in Marital Therapy, a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and an MSc in Counselling Psychology. I aim to keep my skills and knowledge up to date with continuing professional development. I am on the Accredited Register of the British Association of Psychotherapy.

I have a keen interest in helping people to achieve their potential.

Member organisations *

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
