About me

I am an experienced Relate trained therapist who deals with all relationship issues. I offer couples counselling and also specialise in psychosexual therapy, sex addiction, marriage counselling and eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia and obesity.

Other areas that I regularly encounter in my work as a private practitioner from my own purpose-built premises with free off-road parking include helping clients to tackle low self confidence, low self esteem, anger management issues and how to cope with stress.

I work flexibly, according to client availability and preference and offer both daytime and evening appointments starting from 8am up to 9pm Mon-Wed and up to 7pm on Friday.

I have successfully helped many individuals and couples to make positive changes for themselves and thus reach greater fulfilment in their lives.

I offer a warm, open, honest and genuine relationship to clients and always respect individual values, personal choice, religion, culture, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

I work integratively by utilising skills and techniques that I have developed through studying across the range of therapeutic modalities including Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I am a member of both the Experienced Counsellors Network and Couples Counselling Network.

I joined Relate nine years ago and, after completing initial training as a relationship counsellor, went on to study Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as an integral part of Relate’s psychosexual therapy (PST) Diploma course, held at Herbert Gray College, Rugby.

I completed Relate's PST Diploma in 2004 and still works for Relate Herts Central branch, based in St Albans, as a relationship counsellor and sex therapist.

In November 2007 I completed a course of training in sexual compulsivity and internet pornography addiction run by The Meadows, U.S based addiction recovery centre at Palm Springs, California.

I am currently undergoing training in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

I completed the National Centre for Eating Disorders, (NCFED) Practitioner Skills course in November 2006. Diploma granted June 2007 after written submission. NCFED Nutritional Interventions course completed June 07. NCFED Binge Eating in Obesity course completed September 07.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy (BASRT) I am bound by the professional code of ethics of both organisations.

I am a member of the Association for Independent Practitioners and I hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
