JOY HAZLEHURST ... MBACP (Accred.)
I qualified as a Counsellor in 2001 from The University of Salford, and became BACP Accredited in 2004. For ten years I worked at North Staffs Mind in Hanley on their adult and children's team. I now work purely as an independent counsellor for adults and couples from a centre in the heart of Holmes Chapel, accepting self-referrals plus referrals through a number of Employer Assisted Programmes, Insurance Companies, Occupational Health plus Human Resource Departments. I frequently work as a Locum Counsellor for NHS IAPT and Talking Therapies.
The client is his/her own expert and my role is to help facilitate their healing and growth by listening with concern and without judgement within a safe and supportive environment. The client is encouraged to focus on themselves and to express their story plus feelings whilst I feedback what I notice, understand and sense enabling them to gain a greater understanding of themselves and discover new ways of coping with their difficulties. I'll offer information and coping strategies where appropriate.
With many years of therapeutic experience and hundreds of hours of continuing professional development behind me I trust that the client will draw out of me what they personally need for their own recovery and progression.
