Hello thank you for looking at my details. I am a qualified Psychotherapist/Counsellor with over 20 years of counselling experience within the public and private sector. I have worked within higher education, probation services, addiction services, rehabilitation centres and corporate services as well as running my own private practice. What I can offer you is a professional therapeutic service in a safe, caring and confidential space.
I work in a compassionate, warm and integrative manner which means I draw upon ideas and training from a number of different theoretical backgrounds. I have professional experience of working with numerous client issues, ranging from anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger issues, bereavement, low self esteem, lack of confidence, stress, work related problems, addictive behaviours, a lack of direction, loss of way, family problems, abuse etc.
If this is the first time you are considering therapy it is quite understandable for you to wonder how I can help you and what to expect from the therapy. If so please do not hesitate to contact me first for a brief chat about how best I can help. Talking and exploring your feelings with someone who is professionally trained to listen will help you to
explore your feelings and thoughts to bring you to a calmer and better place than you may be in right now.
I qualified with a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire in 2002. Since then, as well as running a private practice I have worked within the public and private sector offering counselling to people with a wide and diverse range of problems and difficulties. I have also worked as a counselling partner for a Probation service offering emotional help and guidance to offenders with addiction problems as well as other difficulties. Whilst being part of this service I was given an award as recognition for my work within the Probation Service. Alongside my working life I have also continued to develop my professional experience by studying further courses for my professional development which have included Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Meditation Psychology (MBCT). Where necessary I can incorporate these into our counselling sessions.
My private practice is run from a residential setting which is easily accessible to London Colney, St Albans, Radlett, Shenley, Hatfield and surrounding villages but also North London due to its close proximity to the M25.
If you would like to contact me to arrange for counselling we will then arrange an initial meeting where we will discuss what is troubling you and to see if we can work therapeutically together. We can then either agree to meet for a fixed number of sessions, or we can work together in an open-ended way for as long as it benefits and feels right for you.
