Barry Hill BS3 (MBACP, Mindfulness, Stress, CBT, Dip.Couns, Bereavement)

About me

As we live through the Covid-19 pandemic, forced to live in lockdown or very restricted living conditions, we can find this very stressful and difficult.  Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety about work or money, dealing with the extra pressure of having kids at home, maybe there is relationship stress or you are recovering from illness.  The crisis may also be stimulating quite deep and sombre thoughts about your life, losing loved ones, how to live a full and happy life.  It can really help to chat to someone about this and I am offering free video conferencing support sessions to anyone who needs to talk it through. enquiries@barry-hill-south-bristol-counselling.co.uk or call 07904 741524

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

My counselling style draws from all of my qualifications and interests - it is very person-centred. I encourage clients to shape and direct sessions themselves in order to create a safe and creative space.

When you come for Counselling we are making together a special space where you can safely explore your concerns and difficulties. This space is held by building a strong and trusting relationship.  This is why connection and safety are important factors when choosing a Counsellor. The choice is very important and, for this reason, I like to see a prospective client twice before we each sign a formal, written Counselling contract.  Once we are sure we can work together, then the Counselling can begin.

I also work as a Supervisor, either individually or in teams at a special hourly rate.

Sessions are 1 hour, ideally on a regular, weekly basis and I follow the BACP Code of Ethics.

I have regular Supervision with a UKCP accredited Psychoanalyst and regular Mindfulness Supervision

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
