About me

After 15years of being privileged to work privately with many, many, clients at my delightful office in the centre of Bishop's Stortford... I have changed location! You can now find me tucked away in a cosy, discreet and completely renovated caravan at the end of my garden. Returning and new clients can be assured that, whether we are talking virtually or 'in the van' the relaxed atmosphere does not detract from the attention, value and compassion offered to them.

My contact details remain the same: 07704 000857

                                                           jeanbuck@mac.com

Accredited in 2007 as a BACP Counselling Psychotherapist I continue to offer both long and short term confidential therapy to couples, individual adults, and adolescents ( from school year 7.) Although the majority of my work is with adults, over the last few years there has been a substantial increase in the number of  young people who see me privately.  Furthermore, it would seem that COVID - 19 has contributed to the confusion, anxieties and general sense of 'lost' experienced by a large proportion of the population.

I am an approved Counsellor with BARNARDO'S ADOPTION Agency - offering counselling to anyone who has been affected by the issue of adoption or fostering. Parallel to this I take referrals from Family Support Services.

I am qualified with CareConfidential to counsel people struggling with Post Abortion Syndrome.

For many years I worked alongside several companies offering counselling support to their employees for work related stress or personal issues.

Having experienced the loss of two family members to MND, I have recently trained to work with families who find themselves struggling with this incurable disease.

A recovering alcoholic (10+ years) I voluntarily run weekly online groups with S.T.A.R Recovery and work privately one to one with people dealing with unwanted habits. My work with addictions is based on the 12 Steps and drawn from a programme initiated within the Priory Group.

I have written, and recorded both Podcast and Webinar for the BACP concerning the issue of Bereavement to suicide.

My clinical hours are Mondays and Thursdays 10am - 9pm.

I am a practising Christian and worship regularly at a local church.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
