About me

My name is Nicola. I am a warm, empathic person and as a therapist committed to supporting my clients. I am a qualified psychotherapist with 15 years of professional experience of working with anxiety and depression and with people who have experienced trauma.

I work at Cornerstone Counselling and Therapy Centre as a Therapist, Supervisor and Business Development Manager. I began work as a therapist at Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Service in 2011 and continue in my current role as Assessment Counsellor.

I have also worked at SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorder Association) and Together Women Project.

I am married, have a child and enjoy hiking and long walks in the countryside. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in casting and marketing bronze resin garden sculptures. Along with my colleagues, we were awarded a Silver Gilt at Chelsea Flower Show.

To ensure I meet continuing professional BACP requirements, I receive clinical supervision on a monthly basis. (The minimum requirement for all therapists is one and a half hours each month.) I also regularly attend CPD (Continuing Pro

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Additional information

First Steps

There is no right reason or a 'right time' to start therapy. It is natural for you to wish to speak to me to see if you feel comfortable sharing your story before making an initial mutual assessment appointment.

Our conversation may cover a brief idea of what you want to work on and also my location, fees and availability.

You can email or send a text message to book an appointment. It's important for you to know I am the only one who has access to my email and phone so your correspondence will only ever be seen by me.

From my own experience of receiving counselling, I know how difficult it is to approach a therapist and understand much of the anxiety that goes along with meeting for the first time. I am mindful of this and try as much as possible to help my clients feel at ease during the session. There is no obligation to continue after our initial consultation if for any reason we believe that I am not the most appropriate therapist for you, I will provide details of other services and therapist that might fit you better.

How do I pay?

I charge £60 per session (50 Minutes) and you can pay by either Bank Transfer or with cash. I will give this information to you at our first session.

Where will we meet?

I work from Cornerstone Counselling & Therapy Centre, 99 Murray Road, S11 7GH. I can offer video (Zoom) sessions for clients in the UK and overseas.

I work weekdays. I am able to offer daytime and evening appointments. I will try to be as flexible as possible in order for appointment times to be convenient and consistent.
