Valerie Hilsley psychotherapist/counsellor BPC and FPC
Are you looking for someone you can trust, where it will feel safe?
I work in a very peaceful and confidential setting, within walking distance of Chelmsford town centre.
My approach is based on the psychodynamic model, which recognises that problems often have their roots in childhood upbringing or events in your past. You may not be aware of the damaging effects of such events, how they are still impacting on your life.
Therapy will help you grow in self knowledge and self awareness, and break free from destructive negative patterns of thinking and behaving. I will be alongside you in the painful process of working through such difficulties. You will gain confidence in yourself, in your relationships and in your decision making.
Building a relationship of trust with you is of primary importance to me.
Whatever is on your mind, call me to arrange an initial meeting when we can decide together how I might help.
Anxiety and depression, low self esteem and low self confidence are areas where I can help. These can impact badly on relationships and your ability to work.
I have expertise in abuse cases and those suffering domestic violence as I have worked for "Women's Aid."
I specialise in relationship difficulties, which includes couple work. I previously worked as a marriage guidance counsellor for "Marriage Care".
I am able to draw on significant experience from my current work as a psychotherapist/counsellor, as well as in my previous work in Social Care and in teaching. I work with trainees on counselling courses, and I am attached to a Counselling network in Chelmsford.
