About me

Hello, I am Shanta. I am accredited and registered member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) for over 15 years. I recently retired after 18 years work at Greenwich Mind as a supervisor and team leader, working with mental health issues. I have come across many mental discomfort that are disturbing and how helpful it is when the difficulty is understood dealt promptly.

To me, a good trusting relationship is most important, a relationship which is genuine, whole hearted, respectful etc.

How can I help?

As a therapist, I try to understand the person without any judgement, I work with the current difficulties and listen to past history to understand better. My goal is to facilitate inner growth, change belief system if necessary, develop strength to survive have a meaningful life in the world.

I trained in Psychodynamic Counselling and Existential Psychotherapy to post graduate level. I also have specialist trainings in CBT, DBT (dialectic behavioural therapy), mindfulness based therapy, couple counselling, culture focus therapy group work, eating disorders, trauma work and addiction issues.

I also have specialist training in Condition Management, which helps to empower people to change directions in life after redundancy or job loss. I help clients to acknowledge the benefits of their present life rather than being caught up in the past or future.

I developed projects help people to understand the relationship between Food and Mood. It was an award winning project funded by King`s Fund London.

Currently I am taking training in Interpersonal NeuroBiology to understand the relationship between Mind and Brain.

Diploma in Clinical Supervision.

I have been working as a supervisor for the last fifteen years using an integrative model.
