Jim Robinson MBACP (Accred)
3 Station Road
I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy, relationship counselling and group work, from my practice here in Withyham on the East Sussex / Kent border. I have been practicing since 2001 and am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, a UKAHPP and UKCP accredited psychotherapist.
Therapy works by supporting us to increase our awareness of ourselves, helping us to see more deeply what is going on and how we function. This new awareness comes from looking closely at our feelings, our thoughts and our bodies, as well as how each affects the others. It is with this new information that we can start to understand ourselves, start to see what has been driving us to be the way we are, to see that we are not 'mad' or 'bad' and that we have simply been surviving the best way we could.
My background is Humanistic / Gestalt in orientation, which means that I focus on investigating our here and now experience and how we hold the unfinished from our past in the present. How the fear of being re-wounded restricts our freedom to simply be ourselves. Starting to take responsibility for ourselves, especially for our feelings and how we make ourselves a 'victim', can be tough work, but it is part of finding freedom from our conditioning. This is a wonderfully rewarding and meaningful process.
Please see my website for further information about my approach.
