Karen Richardson BA (Hons) MBACP (Accred) DCHyp MCCSHA
I offer counselling on these and other issues:
ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION, CONFIDENCE BOOSTING, ADDICTIONS, RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS, BEREAVEMENT, ADOLESCENCE PROBLEMS.
I am continuing to do so during the Covid-19 outbreak, offering sessions via Skype, WhatsApp and Facetime. I am counselling some health workers who have volunteered to work in wards dealing with Covid patients.
I conduct these and other therapies:
ANGER MANAGEMENT, CLINICAL HYPNOSIS, COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT) MINDFULNESS, EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)
Walk & Talk - Despite some apprehension at the idea, the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of a glorious spring day in Holland Park and Karen's relaxed and empathic manner melted away any concerns I had and I found myself open and relaxed. My mind and soul felt at liberty to talk. (Client AS)
One-to-one - Karen was my last resort, having attended sessions with several other Counsellors. Unlike others, Karen's approach was not to just listen to me, but to give me the practical skills/techniques I needed to self-heal and overcome my anxieties. Her CD's were invaluable tools to help me manage my situation. I now look at life from a new and positive perspective. (Client SP)
All of us want to feel happy - to feel good about ourselves, our careers and our relationships. When we feel happy the world around us looks great and obstacles viewed as challenges we can overcome and it's easier to be disciplined in our thoughts and feelings and say "no" to that extra piece of cake or cigarette. We feel more resilient to withstand the criticism of others whether at home or at work.
Sadly, unhappiness affects not only our perception of ourselves but also all those things and relationships which once brought us happiness. Now these represent pain and despair and we may feel anxious and unable to cope. Some may even sink into depression and use alcohol or food to mask our feelings.
Whichever the source of our unhappiness recognising that we need help and asking for it is never easy, let alone when we feel at a low ebb and emotionally vulnerable.
Sometimes we can resolve the problems ourselves, but there are times when we need the professional help of a counsellor - free from judgment - to help us overcome our problem.
Choosing the right counsellor is not easy, but experience and qualifications go along away to reassure that we are making the right choice. See my 'Training & Qualifications' below.
No one is in control of your happiness but you. You have the power to change anything that you want to change and I am able to help you do that.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
