Hello, my name is Rosemarie and I live in Somerset within easy reach of Minehead, Bridgewater and Taunton. I am a qualified Psychotherapist, Supervisor and counsellor having completed my diploma in Individual Psychology in 2008. I am a registered member of BACP. In 2011 I completed a certificate in supervision and enjoy working with supervisees from a range of backgrounds including teachers, Drs and those who work in the caring professions and trainee counsellors.
My career path has included over 20 years in business working mainly in recruitment, career counselling and HR. Following the completion of my diploma I took a different path working within my local authority with families and schools supporting parents and running parenting groups. Other roles within the social care framework have involved working to overcome isolation in the community, particularly with the elderly.
I have a small private practice where I offer both psychotherapy and supervision. My model is Individual Psychology (IP) based on the work of Alfred Adler. My work with counselling clients starts with gaining an understanding of the issue that is presenting for them and how it is impacting on their lives. Every person is unique in how they experience life and in order to understand my clients perspective on the situation we look at the significant aspects of their history, e.g. family of origin, health history, key events in their lives and include early recollections and dreams. (Lifestyle)
Working together we explore whether this is part of a repeated pattern of relationship or family issues and how to break negative connections to move towards more positive outcomes.
Most of my work is around relationships, be that family relationships, couples, parent/child and sometimes this can be about our relationship with ourself. How we view ourselves, sometimes comparing ourselves with others and not feeling great about what we see.
Having worked in recruitment for a large part of my life I also have significant experience of work based relationships, career development, redundancy, redeployment and retirement. Also thinking creatively about how to find a useful role in life, particularly when illness and ageing are factors to include.
Life stages, ageing, loss and grieving along with anxiety and stress can all be components of the above and can change our view of ourselves in a rapidly changing world.
My role is to understand your unique situation and to help you identify your strengths, creativity, resilience and to work with you to find the choices and options that are right for you.
I offer an initial 30 minute assessment (which can be done on the phone) which is free of charge. Following this if a client wishes to to continue they engage in a contract for 6 sessions and the dates are agreed. If the work is concluded early then only the sessions attended will be charged.
Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure that the client is content with the style and progress of the work and if necessary the contract will be extended for an appropriate number of sessions, generally in multiples of 6.
Payment for sessions is made in advance by Cash or on application by BACS

The Adlerian model also provides a useful framework for understanding behaviours which is particularly useful for teachers and parents when faced by behaviours from their children that they just cannot understand.
