About me

I am a fully qualified counsellor with over 17 years experience and I am an accredited member of both the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA). I hold full professional indemnity insurance and I adhere to BACP's Ethical Framework for good practice in counselling & psychotherapy which includes being subject to its professional conduct procedure. I also maintain continuing professional development over and above what is required by the BACP and BICA guidelines for Good Practice.
I offer a confidential and non-judgemental service and work with couples and adult individuals for short or long term work.

Training, qualifications & experience

BICA accredited infertility counsellor 2008
Certificate in Person-Centred Supervision 2008
BACP accredited counsellor 2006
Advanced Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling 2003-2005
Intermediate Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling 2001-2003
Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling 1999-2001

My theoretical background is a mixture of person-centred and psychodynamic training. I work in a way that combines both and I therefore see myself as an integrative therapist. I have worked in a variety of settings, both with couples and individuals. I have been on a crisis telephone counselling helpline and have worked in a bereavement centre.

I have worked with clients referred by their GP's in time-limited work and with those that have self referred on an open-ended basis. As I am listed on several EAP registers I also see clients that have been referred by their employers. Furthermore, I hold a certificate in clinical supervision that allows me to work with colleagues regarding their own client work.

My specialist area concerns fertility issues and assisted conception treatments. As such I am an accredited member of British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA).

I am committed to ongoing personal and professional development, as exemplified in the many workshops I have undertaken. These include workshops about infertility, Loss and attachment, psychosexual issues, couples counselling, sexuality and other minority group issues, and cognitive behavioural therapy.

I am currently Secretary of the BICA Executive Committee.
