About me

My therapy room is peaceful, non-judgemental, confidential and kind. As we get to know each other and you feel comfortable, then I can encourage you to gently release and unlock any fears and concerns that are causing you to become stuck in feeling the way you do.  Sometimes we have to address a few areas of our lifestyle by making gently subtle changes. Over time this can have a very positive effect and can make so much difference to your happiness, suit your individual needs and depending on your issue, we can find the best way forward together.

Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression

Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. It is so common for many of us to neglect ourselves by getting lost in our busy lifestyles. We carry on juggling life at a fast pace and forget how important it is to look after ourselves. This can cause terrible anxiety that can be triggered by stress of all kinds, past trauma and other experiences. Sometimes it's not always possible to find a root cause to your anxiety but it definitely is possible to find ways to overcome it. Anxiety can display itself in many ways. The most common forms are Social Anxiety and Health Anxiety. I have extensive knowledge and experience in this area and will be able to talk you through various techniques to help you combat this problem

Bereavement

Have you have recently lost a loved one ?, or are you supporting someone who has ? We grieve in many ways and the emotion we feel can be sometimes confusing, frightening and a shock to us. We may feel that we are not reacting to our loss as we feel we should. Sometimes it can be extremely hurtful when others close to us become distant if they don't know what to say. It can be very helpful talking things through and to be able to learn about the stages of grief with somebody outside your circle of family and friends

Relationships

We build relationships of all types throughout our lives and bond differently to different people. Often things can become complicated and we can easily misunderstand one another, take each other for granted and soon our relationships can feel strained and often at breaking point.

The dynamics of a family can change very suddenly with little change and before we know it tension can build and resentment can set in very quickly. If we are not happy in our relationships then we can feel that our world is falling apart. Without a support network around us we can easily become isolated, lonely and in despair

Whether your relationship issue is with your partner, child, friend or someone you work with perhaps, I can help you untangle any issues that you want to discuss and together we can find a plan that helps you to find happiness again, whatever that may be, without any judgement

Children and Adolescents

Being a teenager is not easy, especially these days with pressures of social media. Are you a young person going through your exams perhaps whilst try to cope with other issues such as low confidence, friendship problems or your health ? Perhaps you are the parent desperately worried that there might be something wrong? I have many years of experience and expertise particularly with this age group. As a trained Clinical Hypnotherapist also, I find that sometimes a combination of Counselling and Hypnotherapy works very well in this case. As the Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, it helps to make the client feel less pressured about the problem and more focused on the solution in a positive, fun and relaxing way. This method is very effective for low self esteem and confidence issues. I do encourage parents to sit in during sessions, especially under the age of 16years

Addictions

Are you suffering with an addiction of some sort? I specialise in alcohol addiction although will help with other addictions such as drugs, gambling and food. Finding the root cause for these habits and the reasons for needing to numb out are important to discover so that a person can heal, recover and move forward in recovery.

There are many reasons a person develops an addiction. It may be genetic, a learnt behaviour, a form of escapism or a combination of all three. However we discover your individual reason for developing this habit, I can help if necessary by referring you to an organisation who you can get expert advice and possible medication alongside the counselling support

These are just a few of the areas I help with

Many of these issues can make you feel very alone and isolated. Making that first move by asking for help is a brave step. An important step so that you can live your life to the fullest with more ease and understanding of yourself and others
