Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

The no obligation, first counselling meeting (for which the fee is payable) is an opportunity for us to meet and exchange information. Information can be explored so that you are clear about the contract that will be in place in order for the work to proceed. In this meeting I will ask you about your background and what your expectations are of therapy. This information will be treated as confidential. Decisions to continue or terminate our work can be taken at this stage.
Sessions last for 50 minutes; this is your time to discuss your issues, whatever is worrying you, in your own way. You are free to disclose as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. Ideally we meet once a week, particularly at the start of counselling when we are getting to know each other. At a later stage some clients choose to come fortnightly as they begin to feel the benefit of the therapy.
I offer the opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings in a confidential, non judgmental environment with the aim of helping you to improve the quality of your life and relationships. The therapy I offer enables thoughts, feelings and problematic behaviours to be explored, to help make sense of difficulties so they can be better understood and resolved.

I also offer consultancy and training in delivering groupwork programmes.
