About me

"Sometimes what you are most afraid of doing is the very thing that can set you free”

Through my own professional and personal experiences counselling has taught me that all challenges, no matter how difficult or painful can bring opportunities for growth and empowerment. Counselling is a journey, it can be long or short term but it must have certain factors in place to allow change. What I offer you is a safe environment where you can feel able to share with me the issues you are facing, to feel listened to without passing judgment and together looking at ways to create a way forward.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Working within their Ethical Framework of good practice, it also means I am committed to my personal and professional development as well as attending regular Clinical Supervision.

I am DBS checked and hold full Professional Civil Liability Insurance.

“It is ok to get lost every once in a while. Sometimes getting lost is how we find ourselves”

Training, qualifications & experience

Working with all ages from 2.5yr to 89yr+ requires different approaches with each individual. As an Integrative counsellor it enables me to draw on several different therapeutic approaches which I tailor to the needs of each client. When working with children I work very gently to understand their life events. By using creative play it allows me to enter their world from their perspective. I have undertaken further specialised training in areas of Child Abuse and Autism along with my CPCAB qualification in Children’s Counselling. Other specialised training is in Sex Addiction and Pornography, Rewind Technique and Couples/Family Counselling.

Through my experiences of working with children, university students, adults and couples, I have worked with various issues from bereavement, loss, attachment, family divorce, relationship issues, abuse, frustrations, self-esteem, self harm, suicide, racial discrimination, diversity, safeguarding, FGM, Autism, LGBTQ, exam pressure, mental health, PTSD, Rape,Anxiety, Sex addiction, food related conditions.

Compassion and understanding are a very strong skill set I have when it comes to Bereavement. Having worked for Cruse for several years it afforded me a great deal of experience in this field. Being an animal lover and witnessing at times the grief and loss of a client’s beloved pet led to my Diploma in Pet Bereavement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
