About me

I offer counselling for adults, young people and children, with a limited number of sessions available face to face. I also now offer my services online via WhatsApp or FaceTime. This is now a well-established and effective way of working, that allows you or your child to experience therapy from the comfort of your own home. This also allows you to access help from anywhere in the UK.

If you choose to come and see me, we will work together in a way that means you lead and I follow, where we will only ever look at dealing with the emotions or issues that you are ready and comfortable to address. I offer a safe, supportive, understanding ear within a confidential environment. I will take your feelings seriously, listen without passing judgement and help you find your own way forward. Together we can carefully identify, express and work through the past or present events and relationships that may have caused your current difficulties, in order to allow you to create the future that you want.

I work in an integrative way, which means I draw upon a range of knowledge and techniques, from a variety of different schools of counselling, in order to create a therapeutic process that is just right for you as an individual. I firmly believe that it is you, not me, who is the expert on being you. It is my job to use everything I have learned as a therapist to help you with whatever you are dealing with, so that you can get to where you want to be.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications:

  • BSc (Hons) Psychology
  • Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills (Distinction)
  • Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • MSc Play Therapy

I am a fully qualified and accredited counsellor and I have been working as a therapist for over eight years, in the disciplines of Counselling, Hypnotherapy and Play Therapy.

After gaining my degree in Psychology, I began using my skills to help improve the lives of others, working as a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant. Whilst taking a break from employment to have two children, I began training in hypnotherapy and counselling and quickly realised just how effective counselling can be in treating a large number of issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety and stress.

Throughout my life I had suffered with all three of these problems and whilst personally undergoing both hypnotherapy and counselling I was shocked at the difference it made. So much so that I moved into specialising in these areas in order to help others the way I have been helped.

In 2016 I went on to complete a Masters Degree in Play Therapy. This included a 2 year placement at a local school, treating children with a range of issues including complex trauma and special needs.

Most recently, I returned to my counselling training, completing an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. This included working for the well known and prestigious counselling charity Mind, treating a vast range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, grief, abuse, trauma and suicidal ideation.

I now combine my skills to offer services in counselling, hypnotherapy and parenting support.
