About me

Hello

Thank you for being here. I'm sorry that you're having to look for help and hope that you'll feel reassured by reading my profile.

My clients tend to begin our work together feeling as if they can't achieve their goals, that they're hopelessly stuck and that success is impossible. I'm glad to say that they rarely finish up feeling the same way.

You, just as with the rest of my clients, have everything you need in order to achieve the things you long for. You're already everything you need to be and I look forward to helping you to see that for yourself.

Your role is to decide that now is the time to make changes happen. My role is to help you to see that you can do it, to help you find the resources and to take the direction in life which is right for you.

Perhaps you'd like to move towards a goal and don't know how. You may be desperately trying to move away from something, perhaps a horrible experience in your past, a thought pattern, an emotional response, a feeling.

If you'd like the help of a warm, experienced and highly trained therapist then please read on.

I have undertaken four years of training because I think that you deserve the best therapy available. I have learned to use counselling skills and psychotherapy in order to help people to make changes to their lives. I have learned to use hypnotherapy in order to consolidate and maintain these changes - for good.

I'm a UKCP registered hypnotherapist and am well trained in all the everyday counselling skills. I'm also, however, able to offer you the benefits of hypnosis.

Whenever emotions are involved in a problem, hypnotherapy can help. I see people for all manner of problems. I help people to overcome PTSD, depression, OCD, anxiety disorders, childhood abuse, confidence issues, addictions, phobias, sexual performance issues and much much more.

Hypnotherapy could help you to make the changes you wish to see happen. Hypnosis accelerates the process, accessing parts of your mind which other forms of counselling often struggle to reach.

I know, I wasn't always a believer either. Desperation one day drove me towards a local hypnotherapist and I told her that I had no belief in it. She told me it didn't matter but to keep an open mind. That was OK. I could do that.

It was so wonderful an experience that I was instantly converted and decided to train as a psychotherapist / hypnotherapist myself.

Why work with me?

You should feel comfortable with the person you choose as your therapist. Have a look at my website, watch some videos. If you feel comfortable with the idea of speaking to me then give me a call. A great deal of therapy's success depends on the relationship you build with your therapist. So, if I seem OK, give me a call and ask me how I could help you. Email me instead, if you prefer.

Call me on 07786 123736 or 01865 600970 and we can get to know each other a little bit, before arranging to meet in person. I believe you'll find me to be a warm, professional and caring person and research shows that the relationship between client and therapist is extremely important. I provide hypnotherapy to people in Reading, Wallingford and Oxford. So, wherever you live in Oxfordshire or Berkshire, I’m bound to have an office close enough to you.

My clients are all such wonderful people. They may not see it. You may not see it, yet, but I can see people’s strengths. I spy their fine qualities and show people how they’re already everything they need to be in order to feel better about themselves. You already have everything you need in order to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. Whatever the problem may be, you can be rid of it.

I will help you to see your strengths and it’s this which will give you the confidence to achieve the things you want and need to happen. When we’re done you will have learned to become your own therapist. Not only will you have resolved issue “A,” you will also be better able to deal with issues “B, C and D,” should such issues ever arise in the future.Whether you’re stressed, depressed, suffering from low self-esteem, IBS, chronic pain, phobias or trapped within an addictive behaviour, hypnotherapists can help.

Perhaps you'd now like to give me a call so that we can discuss these things in more detail. I'll be more than happy to talk with you.

Best wishes

Paul

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma in hypno-psychotherapy (Distinction) from the NCHP and am UKCP accredited. Very, very few hypnotherapy training courses (four out of dozens and dozens and dozens) come anywhere near being good enough to receive UKCP accreditation. I took that extra mile because I believe that my clients deserve the very best possible therapy.

I received the Beilby Prize and Founders award whilst training so you can be sure that I am highly trained and ethical. The NSHP and UKCP are among the very few organisations which campaign for the psychotherapy profession to be regulated. We want the profession to be regulated in order that our clients can be sure they are receiving the best possible therapy.

I belong to UKCP. This is my professional body and has the most rigorous ethical code in the profession. It forbids, for example, the use of testimonials. Your confidentiality is more valuable than a few good words on a website.

I also belong to the CNHC, a body which regulates the complementary health "industry." The NHS recommends that people should only consult with those therapists who belong to this body.

I am now a qualified Child and Adolescent Counsellor. You can read more on my work with children by visiting www.resolvedcounsellingforchildren.com

Fees

Additional information

I charge £70 per session in Oxford and yet do try my best to hold open a few slots for those who can't afford counselling at its full price. I obviously have bills to pay and a family to support but nonetheless like to do my bit to help those who aren't able to access the support they need.

All I ask is that those on the lower fee slots do their best to fit in around my full-fee paying clients. If that's OK with you and you'd like a little help without being able to afford full fees then please do get in touch.

When I work

I work in 5 different locations and move between them as demand dictates. I rarely have problems finding a mutually convenient time. Let me know of your availability and we'll go from there.

Further information

I specialise in working with clients on the autistic spectrum - those with high functioning autism or Asperger's Syndrome.

My eldest daughter is on the spectrum and I have acquired a great deal of experience with this client base since beginning work as a psychotherapist.

I also train counsellors and hypnotherapists to work with this client group.
