About me

I have 30 years experience of working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with people suffering with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, panic attacks, phobias, low self esteem, and a whole host of related difficulties which many people struggle with in life.

You may feel unsure or anxious about approaching a psychotherapist for help for the first time so it is helpful to start by having a few exploratory sessions to discuss what may be troubling you, and then to decide whether to proceed with therapy. After the initial sessions we can then start to explore the issues that brought you to therapy in more depth, whilst slowly building a more secure relationship with your therapist. The relationship you build with your therapist forms the bedrock of the work and enables you to explore emotional difficulties with a feeling of safety. My rigorous psychoanalytic training informs the way that I work, and this is based on an understanding that an individual's unique experiences of childhood, family life, adolescence, siblings, relationships, all contribute, consciously and unconsciously, to how that individual feels about themselves and others in their present day life. Negative experiences in childhood may lead an individual into repetitive self defeating or self destructive patterns of behaviour which they may feel are beyond their control. Identifying these patterns of behaviour, and coming to an understanding of where they may originate, can provide relief, and offer a way forward and an opportunity to do things differently and feel more positively about life.

I offer a safe and confidential setting in quiet, comfortable consulting rooms in Victoria, Central London, next to Victoria Mainline Station and Victoria Underground Station, and is easily accessible by public transport including many bus services.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
