Moyra Somerville MBACP(Snr. Accred)
I offer individual counselling and couples counselling in the Scottish Borders, mainly in Eyemouth.
Training, qualifications & experience
A senior accredited and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I have worked as a counsellor for more than two decades in a variety of settings, in both public and private sectors, including the NHS and local government.
I began training in counselling in 1984 to help with my work as a guidance teacher in secondary schools. Later, I trained and worked with Marriage Counselling Scotland becoming formally accredited as a couple counsellor in 1995. Around that time, I established my private practice and began part-time work with a local government staff counselling service in the north east of Scotland.
In the past, I have worked in voluntary agencies as well as being employed in various staff counselling settings, including the NHS. My private practice has continued throughout this time. I worked in counselling training for several years and for a number of years I have also worked on a part-time freelance basis for a GP practice.
I have trained in different models and approaches in order to offer as effective and comprehensive a service as possible. Please see my website for further information (click on the link above).
