About me
Hi there,
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, stuck or that something is missing from your life?
Could limiting self beliefs be holding you back and preventing you from living the life that you want?
It takes strength and courage to admit we need help, as we all do sometimes. Counselling and Psychotherapy can provide a confidential space to talk about any issues you are facing.
Therapy can help you to explore current and past issues or trauma which may be impacting your life or relationships. As your Therapist, my role is to facilitate our work together in ways that respect your values and beliefs, coming from a place of kindness and empathy.
I have my own private room in Central Exeter, where I provide a calm, safe space in a supportive and confidential setting. I am a warm, real and down to earth person. I have a wealth of real life experience as well as qualifications. I have been working therapeutically with people for 20 years.
I am an integrative Therapist, which means I can draw from many different disciplines to offer a uniquely personalised focus for our work together.
I work with a whole spectrum of life issues including but not limited to, Anxiety, Stress, Estrangement, Bereavement, Low Self Esteem, Domestic Violence, Trauma, PTSD, Sexual Abuse, Autism, Relationship Difficulties, Addiction and Depression.
Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly and last an hour. You may prefer to have a fixed time and day for us to meet or you may prefer some more flexibility to fit in with childcare and work commitments. I am able to offer both.
I also offer the option of a one off single session, where you may just want to talk through a particular issue and not want to commit to longer term therapy. This can be either an hour or we can meet for 90 minutes.
I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the National Counselling Society and an Accredited Therapist with BACP. This means that I have achieved a substantial level of approved training, experience and my practice has been deemed to meet the standard for a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.
I have an up to date enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.
EMDR
EMDR is one of the NICE recommended psychological therapies for treating PTSD. It can also be used to treat - Traumatic Memories, Flashbacks, Pain, Depression, Addictions, Phobias, Grief and Anxiety and many more issues.
Here is a recent review from a satisfied client on welldoing.org which explains the process well.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
