Dianne Radford BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Supervisor
Introduction - I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor and Supervisor with over twenty years experience both in the NHS and private practice. I am committed to my clients and passionate about therapy. I provide both one to one therapy and Couples Counselling. My approach is warm, open, authentic and non-judgemental.
I initially trained as a mental health nurse and became interested in therapy In counselling the therapeutic relationship (between client and counsellor) can be a powerful experience in which the client has the opportunity to explore and understand how they are on relation to others. Sometimes, we can experience an inner conflict because we find we are living our lives how we feel we should and responding to what others want us to be, rather than authentic and real. Counselling is an opportunity to re-learn those familiar patterns of how we think, feel and behave and gain awareness which can then lead us to change.
Introduction to me- I am trained in the Person-Centred model of Counselling. I gained valuable knowledge and experience in the NHS around safeguarding, good practice, effective practice and working to a high standard that is continually monitored. I attend regular updates and training for my professional development. As an Accredited member of BACP I provide a safe confidential ethical service. The latest training I attended was this November which was on Avoidant attachment and being defensive in close relationships.
Introduction to my work - I am experienced in working with a variety of issues which clients bring to counselling such as depression, anxiety , bereavement and loss, sexual abuse both as a child and as an adult, low self esteem, relationship issues, domestic violence, attachment issues, chronic illness, alcohol issues and anger. I provide one-to-one counselling which can be short term (brief focused) and also long term therapy. I also provide Couples Counselling. I am warm in my approach, genuine, honest and not judgemental. I aim to provide a safe trusting environment in which a client can really explore and gain an understanding into their worries, concerns, dilemmas. The inital session is more of an assessment to really explore and understand what the issues are. I work in collaboration with the client to ensure they are fully understood.
I work from home and have an identified therapy room which is confortable and relaxing.
