Hilary Borrow Registered Member MBACP (Accred)
It can take a lot of courage to take that first step towards telling a stranger about yourself, and I believe, when you make that first step, you have the right to feel safe and respected.
I offer a safe space to explore whatever you bring - my aim is for us to work together to help you find new meanings, and find the strength to make the changes you want. We could focus on one issue in a brief therapy way, or explore a number of concerns over several sessions if you would prefer that. I am flexible about the number of sessions we would need together.
As a professionally trained and qualified counsellor, I am also an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, following their ethical guidelines (www.bacp.co.uk). I hope this will reassure you about my standards.
Training, qualifications & experience
My Certificate and Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling were undertaken at UW Newport, where I followed the Integrative pathway. I underpin my work in a Person-centred and Humanistic way, but with the emphasis on being Relational. I tailor therapy to suit each individual client or couple, using ideas and aspects of other approaches such as Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Existential.
I work with individuals who wish to explore aspects of their lives that are troubling them. They may have relationship issues to resolve, suffer distress through bereavement or other loss, experience problems with anger management, be struggling with depression or anxiety, suffer from low self esteem or eating disorders, or wonder why life keeps on knocking them down. We will explore patterns of behaviour, and work together to gain new perspectives, and discover alternative choices.
