About me

Are you getting through life or are you living it?

Do you long to change your life but find yourself stuck in negative patterns?

Do you feel overwhelmed by conflicting choices? Or do you feel a general loss of energy and motivation without really knowing why?

Do you suffer from depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loneliness, addiction, eating disorders and/or body image issues, professional frustration, envy, or difficulties with family or relationships?

Whatever your situation, I will provide you with a safe and confidential environment within which to explore your issues. It is not my aim to judge, but to challenge established ways of thinking and being, enabling new choices and changes to be made.

You are the author of your own life, though you may not feel that way. Together we can change your story and help you live a life that is fulfilling and authentic to you.

My work involves a thorough and active approach in which we will examine every aspect of what makes life meaningful for you, as well as those obstacles which prevent you from fulfilling your potential. In keeping with this, I am just as interested in your life today as in your past; in the conscious choices you make as well as your more mysterious reasons for making them. Though it is my aim to help you make better choices for yourself, I may sometimes offer tangible or practical suggestions when I feel it is appropriate.

I place a strong emphasis on you as an individual. While I am well versed in a number of theoretical approaches, it is not my desire to impose a textbook theory of 'normal' or 'ought' upon you. Rather, I hope to facilitate an environment in which you can find your own voice and, with it, a life more fulfilling to your particular needs and wishes.

Before we commit to a course of therapy, I usually suggest we meet for an initial session, at half price. This will enable us to discuss your reasons for coming to therapy as well as to get a sense of how we might work together. In this session, you will also have the opportunity to address any questions you have about the process.

In these currently troubled times, I appreciate the necessity for working virtually, usually via Skype or FaceTime. I already have considerable experience with virtual work and while there is no match for working in person, I do my utmost to keep the work as dynamic and intimate as possible and have had, consequently, excellent results working virtually as well as face-to-face.

I am also an experienced supervisor.

Training, qualifications & experience

I did my foundation and Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy at Regents College, London, graduating in 1998. I have worked in both the public and private sectors. I began working as a therapist in 1997 and set up private practice, in conjunction with the founding of APCC, in 1999. I subsequently completed a diploma course in Integrative Supervision at the Minster Centre, London, in 2001.

I have also taught on the Regents College foundation course in counselling and psychotherapy. Today, I privately supervise psychotherapy students on academic essays and dissertations.

I am both UKCP and BACP registered. I am fully insured.

I am also a founder member of APCC (Association of Psychotherapy in Camden), working alongside other experienced practitioners, including bilingual therapists.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

UK Council for Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

Additional information

My top asking price is £75. However, as I strongly feel that therapy should be affordable to those on lower incomes, I may vary my fees according to what you can afford. My initial consultation is half-price.

As specified in my Supervision section, I am also a qualified supervisor and can, at times, provide low cost supervision.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
