Danielle Peace BA Reg MBACP Psychotherapist
I have a private practice where I offer one-to-one and couples counselling. I work from a Humanistic approach with a theory based on Transactional Analysis. I have had experience of working with adults in a GP surgery and a local charity for people who experience, or are affected by mental distress.
Humanistic counselling provides the client with an opportunity to explore creativity, personal growth and self-development. It provides a deeper understanding of who we are, what we feel and the possibility of creating personal choices. It encourages self-awareness and self-realisation.
The client is encouraged to look back over past decisions they have made and to analyse and understand the consequences and subsequent direction. Transactional Analysis is a Humanistic approach which allows the client to become more in tune with their thinking and acting skills.
Sometimes talking therapies may seem too challenging for the client. Working through art and the imagination can offer a new dimension. There is no pressure to find the exact words to convey a feeling and it is not necessary to talk in detail about difficult or painful experiences, an image can speak for the client. Setting things out visually can sometimes make the issue become clearer. The process of showing or creating something symbolically is healing in itself.
