About me
I have been a professional psychotherapist and counsellor for 29 years, seeing individuals and couples. I also work as a supervisor. Approximately 60% of my clients are professionally qualified counsellors or psychotherapists, trainee counsellors and psychotherapists, or clinical supervisees, but I am very happy to work with clients who are new to psychotherapy and counselling.
I see clients face-to-face so long as they are fully vaccinated. I also work on line. I have experience of working in this virtual world which goes back a number of years. I am fully Covid vaccinated.
Most of my work is about relationship problems, couple problems, psychosexual problems, behavioral addictions ( love, sex, porn, gambling, eating problems), adult problems flowing from unsatisfactory childhoods and parenting, adoption, anxiety and panic attacks and boarding school education. I also work with problems flowing from affaires and betrayal, bereavement, relational problems resulting from IVF, sexual abuse, low self esteem, depression and stress. Currently
I work long-term and short-term with adults (heterosexuals and LGBQT)), and members of many racial groups. I also offer clinical supervision.
I have been married and am a father and grandfather. Before becoming a psychotherapist I was a university lecturer teaching economics and then about organisations, and spent some time in China teaching, counselling and consulting at the Chinese campus of the University of Nottingham..
In the past I have been an organisational consultant. As a result of this, I am interested in working with clients about work related issues.
Having been a part-time yoga teacher for 17 years, I am also interested in working with anxiety and panic attacks, and teaching calmness and stillness and how to manage panic, anxiety, sleeping problems and insomnia.
