Joanna Kaye BA(Hons) MBACP (Accred)
I take the view that YOU ARE THE EXPERT IN YOUR OWN LIFE.
Hello and Welcome to my profile. Sometimes along life's journeys we may need a helping hand or someone to walk alongside us in our troubles and difficult circumstances, to help us find our way and come to some understanding. I can be that someone for you and together we can work to find your strengths, to enable you to make choices and changes for yourself in your life.
Counselling is a one-to-one talking therapy. It provides a safe confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, to help you get through life's difficult times or to make changes for yourself. Counsellors undergo rigorous training that enables them to help you make sense of your problems or to help you make the changes you may wish to make. It is not giving of advice or telling you what to do but to help you to find the answers from within yourself.
I work in a non-directive person-centred way and will be there to listen and to help support you as you explore your thoughts and feelings, without judgement, in a warm, safe and confidential environment.
When you contact me we would arrange to meet at a mutually convenient time at my home where I work from. This would be a two-way type of interview to assess whether or not counselling is right for you and for you to assess if what I can offer is what you want.
This initial meeting of approximately forty minutes would be free of charge.
If you decide to procede we would meet on a weekly basis at the same agreed time for as long as you needed to come, we would review this along the way. Some people can benefit from just one or two sessions but others may need more longer term support. I work to whatever are your needs.
