FOR 2024 I continue to offer :

FACE TO FACE COUNSELLING

ZOOM ONLINE OR TELEPHONE COUNSELLING SESSIONS, WHERE APPROPRIATE, FOR BOTH INDIVIDUALS, AND RELATIONSHIP ISSUES IN ALL THE AREAS SPECIFIED BELOW.

When individuals or couples come to see me the main focus of my work lies in their care and future well being, so that they can go forward with a new way of understanding themselves and others, using new skills to broaden their outlook on life and to find greater happiness.

I work in a warm and supportive way, building up trust with my clients and thereby creating a comfortable space where we can address the situation sensitively and concisely. Sessions lasting weeks rather than months!

I have been working in the field of Personal and Couples Relationships for the past 21 years, having been trained and accredited by Relationships Scotland ( formerly Relate). My hope is to help my client(s) by drawing on my wide range of study, experience and disciplines. These include Person Centred, Psychodynamic, SystemsTheory and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I have also had experience of working in an Employment Support Programme (EAP) which has given me an added insight into the problems associated with the workplace and financial, life and family /Relationship crises.

I have experience in understanding families with sick children, step family difficulties and generational and sibling situations.

As a member of BACP I adhere to their strict code of ethics ensuring confidentiality. I attend regular CPD courses and Supervision.

I have also made a number of short videos to explore some of the more common issues which arise in my counselling sessions. You can access them by copying and pasting the link to my youtube channel  below .

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
