What will the sessions involve
We will first agree the work we will do together. The sessions will give you space to talk about what is happening and, if you want to, we can develop strategies to help make improvements. I will listen to you actively, keeping an open-mind. I will challenge you gently, helping us both understand what is going on. We may look at cycles of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are no longer useful or help you change unwanted reoccurring patterns in relationships.
Sometimes people know exactly what they want from counselling and the counselling can provide support as we can work together towards this.
Sometimes people are not sure what is happening, and our first task might be to make sense of the situation or feelings that are happening.
How much does it cost?
£50 per session or £275 for a block of six sessions. You may pay by cash, cheque at each session, or by credit card or Paypal in advance of the session.
How many sessions?
One of the benefits of private therapy is that we can be flexible to your needs. Sometimes people may just want one or two sessions. Often six sessions will be of benefit for short-term work and we can have sessions on a long-term basis if you would like to work at deeper level or would like on-going support. We can discuss what you want from counselling and end when desired.
Is this for you?
Coming to counselling feel like a big decision, but is a positive step towards change. Sometimes people are unsure whether counselling is right for them and I will welcome enquiries by phone or email if you'd like to discuss how working together will be beneficial for you before arranging your first session.

Training, qualifications & experience
I started my counselling training in 2004, I had counselling after a major life event and I learnt how helpful it can be. Before working as a counsellor, I worked in both the public sector and industry, experiencing a variety of workplace environments and pressures, which has led to a particular interest in workplace issues.
I have been working as a counsellor since 2007 in a variety of settings. I established my private practice in 2009. As well as working privately, I have worked as a counsellor for EAPs, within the voluntary sector for Cruse Bereavement Care and with both staff and students at Cardiff University. I have also worked as a Samaritan.
I now specialise in helping people reduce their levels of stress and increase their wellbeing.
