Jules Howdin UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Supervisor & Trainer
Many of us find therapy helpful when our usual coping strategies for managing distress or unhappiness are no longer working. This may come about by experiencing a crisis such as a period of depression or anxiety, a bereavement, when a relationship ends or when we experience change that is difficult to manage; alternatively it can be when we feel a general sense of not getting what we need out of life. I believe therapy facilitates us to become aware of what happens for us when we are struggling which in turn enables us to identify what helps or detracts us from getting what we need to thrive. Once we are aware of, and understand what we do, we can explore alternatives in order to deal with our difficulties more effectively.
I am an accredited and experienced UKCP Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer having initially trained as an Art Therapist. I have had a private practice based in Chorlton, South Manchester for 19 years. I work alongside the Codes of Ethics and Practice of UKCP and GPTI.
I offer therapy, supervision and training.
I have been qualified as a therapist since 1991 and have worked in a variety of settings which include: adult and adolescent mental health services; a sexual abuse consultancy working with adults, adolescents and children, a University providing and developing a therapy service for staff. I am now working full time as an independent practitioner providing psychotherapy, supervision and training.
I work in a non directive manner from a humanist perspective, and am committed to engaging fully in the relationship from a supportive, respectful, challenging and non judgmental place.
I believe my task as a therapist is to engage with you in order to understand what happens for you, to challenge fixed self beliefs and processes as well as provide support, challenge and encouragement.
