About me

Hi there, my name is Geri, I am a qualified Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy(BACP) and supervisor offering counselling and supervision from my home office face to face and via the online platform.

I am based in North Cotes, near Grimsby and I do have a dog in the house which can sometimes come in with us during counselling or if you wish can easily go safely in another room.

I work with individuals, young people and adults. I offer supervision to qualified counsellors and trainees.

I have worked with and continue to work with varying issues from Depression, anxiety, stress, Women’s health, Menopause, bereavement and PTSD are some examples clients have brought to my counselling room.

Trauma:- For example if your seeking help with PTSD I can use the rewind technique as I believe this is the kindest method, I have discovered, for quickly alleviating the symptoms of trauma without continuously exposing the client to the triggers that give rise to panic and heightened emotional states.

Counselling: - Covers all aspects of life, as and when appropriate.
Once the difficulties in your life have become fully understood and appreciated, and both parties have formed agreement on these, then a strategy can be formulated – with achievable goals being agreed upon.

Counselling can be useful for many issues, some examples are family pressures and not knowing / worrying if an individual can cope with all of the pressures can bring them to counselling.  I have worked with these issues and helping clients discuss, prioritise in a safe place where clients can change the places of things a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, some fit then they don't so we change them around till they feel right. This can be really useful to help your mind make sense of theses issues.

Work pressures can be a big issue for people, first is taking some time to identify the real problem areas. From my experience clients come with what they believe is the problem and after some time counselling they can identify the a slightly different problem and we can then work together to help achieve a solution more affectively and quite often talking is a big part of this solution.  Being in a safe non-judgemental place to allow yourself to explore different theories.

I am a fully qualified CBT therapist, Person-Centered Counsellor with a BA (hons) Degree registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have previously worked within the NHS voluntary sector for several years and with victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence at a leading charity in Lincolnshire.

My aim as a Person Centered/integrative Counsellor is to offer my clients a non-judgmental and safe environment to explore their issues that may be blocking them from being who they want to be. Many issues can affect us all with todays busy lives and having a safe, confidential environment to share, explore and resolve these issues can help clients to move life forwards to a place their happy with.

I appreciate individualism in all of my clients and therefore tailor my counselling to best fit my clients needs.

Counselling does not always need to be sought when your problems are so bad you can hardly cope with what life throws at you, counselling can be used to manage your problems before they get too bad.

Please contact me and let me help you get on the right track.
Please email if possible in the first instance and we can arrange a 15min chat if needed for further details and to discuss your needs.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
