About me

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, my career in psychology began in 2002, my experience includes the NHS setting, private setting, and legal work. My clinical experience has involved working in outpatient services with children and adults, community services, specialist mental health teams, and therapeutic services. I am highly skilled in assessing and treating individuals with complex mental health issues, particularly children and adults. I have specialist skills in assessing and diagnosing children and adults with neruo-developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, and ADHD. I am also very skilled in conducting assessments of cognitive ability / intellectual functioning with children and adults. This includes assessments of giftedness.

I offer empathic non judgmental evidence based psychological therapy to individual clients. I utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) along with other therapeutic approaches that are well evidenced and in line with best clinical practice. I have experience of working with people from all walks of life with a variety of psychological difficulties that impact upon their lives. During therapy we work together to understand how the problems have developed and why repeating patterns have been hard to change. Therapy can increase confidence in managing difficulties and fosters skills to enable empowerment and sustainable positive changes.

Briefly, clinical psychology aims to reduce psychological distress and to enhance and promote psychological well-being. A Clinical Psychologist deals with a wide range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, learning disabilities, child and family problems and severe mental illness. A Clinical Psychologist usually undertakes a clinical assessment using a variety of methods, which may include psychological tests, interviews and direct observation of behaviour. The work of a Clinical Psychologist is most often directly with people, either individually or in groups, assessing their needs and providing formal psychological therapies based on psychological theories, research, and evidence.
